Cornmeal Griddle Cakes (pre-1940's)

Total Time: 10 mins Preparation Time: 4 mins Cook Time: 6 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 10
  • 1 cup cornmeal
  • 1 cup flour
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 egg, well beaten
  • 2 1/2 cups milk
  • 2 tablespoons fat, melted

Recipe

  • 1 mix and sift dry ingredients.
  • 2 combine beaten egg and milk.
  • 3 add to dry ingredients.
  • 4 stir in shortening.
  • 5 pour on a hot griddle.
