Black Pepper And Onion Scones

Ingredients

- 3/4 cup onion, chopped
- 1/4 cup margarine or 1/4 cup butter
- 2 cups flour
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2-1 teaspoon black pepper, coarsely ground
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup whipping cream
- 1 egg
Recipe
- 1 heat oven to 400 degrees.
- 2 in a small skillet, saute onions in margarine until crisp tender; set aside. cool slightly.
- 3 lightly spoon flour into measuring cup and level off with a knife.
- 4 in a medium bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, pepper and salt; blend well.
- 5 add whipping cream, egg and sauteed onions; stir just until moistened.
- 6 on floured surface, knead dough gently 5 or 6 times.
- 7 place on ungreased cookie sheet; press into an 8" circle about 1/2 inch thick.
- 8 cut into 8 wedges; separate slightly.
- 9 bake at 400 degrees for 12-16 minutes or until very lightly browned.
- 10 brush with melted butter or margarine.
- 11 serve warm.
- 12 wonderful with soup!
