1796 Cranberry Ketchup

Total Time: 40 mins Preparation Time: 4 mins Cook Time: 36 mins

Ingredients

  • 1 lb cranberries
  • 1/2 cup onion, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 cup apple cider
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon, ground
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon celery seed
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Recipe

  • 1 wash the cranberries.
  • 2 in a large saucepan combine the cranberries with the onion & water & bring to a boil.
  • 3 reduce the heat to low,cover and simmer for 10 minuites.
  • 4 puree the cranberry mixture,return to the saucepan and add the remaining ingredients.
  • 5 bring to a boil and cook uncovered for 15 minuites until most of the liquid is evaporated.
  • 6 continue stirring and don't allow the mixture to scorch.
  • 7 adjust the seasoning with salt and black pepper according to taste.
