Apple Sultana Loaf

Total Time: 50 mins Preparation Time: 15 mins Cook Time: 35 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 8
  • 2 cups self-raising flour
  • 1/3 cup caster sugar
  • 1/3 cup sultana
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup cream
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 red apples, peeled. cored and thinly sliced
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon mixed spice

Recipe

  • 1 preheat oven to 160 degrees celsius.
  • 2 to make apple filling combine all ingredients.
  • 3 place flour, caster sugar and sultanas in a large bowl and mix well.
  • 4 make well in centre and gradually add milk and cream.
  • 5 stir until soft dough forms.
  • 6 knead dough untul smooth and elastic.
  • 7 roll dough into 20cm x 40cm rectangle.
  • 8 top with apple mixture/.
  • 9 roll dough to enclose mixture.
  • 10 brush top with egg and sprinkle with sugar.
  • 11 place in greased loaf tin and cook 35-40 minutes.
