Beer Hush Puppies

Total Time: 40 mins Preparation Time: 10 mins Cook Time: 30 mins

Ingredients

  • 1 cup yellow cornmeal
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup beer
  • 3/4 cup finely chopped onion
  • 1 -2 tablespoon finely chopped jalapeno pepper
  • vegetable oil

Recipe

  • 1 in a mixing bowl, add the first 5 ingredients; stir to combine.
  • 2 add eggs, beer, onion, and jalapeno pepper; stir to combine.
  • 3 drop batter by teaspoonfuls into 1-inch deep hot oil (365°); cook a few at a time, turn once.
  • 4 fry for 1-2 minutes or until hush puppies are golden brown.
  • 5 drain on paper towel lined plates; serve hot.
