Almond Toffee Bars

Ingredients
- 3/4 cup butter, plus 1 tbsp. softened and divided
- 3/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar
- 1 egg yolk
- 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 12 ounces semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 3/4 cup chopped almonds, toasted
Recipe
- 1 cream 3/4 cup butter and sugar; beat in egg yolk and extracts, mixing well.
- 2 blend in flour and salt.
- 3 spread dough evenly onto bottom of ungreased 13x9x2-inch baking pan.
- 4 bake at 350°f for 25 minutes or until golden brown.
- 5 melt chocolate in double boiler over simmering water.
- 6 remove from heat and add remaining 1 tablespoon butter.
- 7 beat until chocolate is glossy.
- 8 spread over baked crust and sprinkle with almonds.
- 9 cool to allow chocolate to set.
- 10 cut into bars.
