Apple Walnut Bars

Ingredients

  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup calorie reduced margarine
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 3/4 cup splenda sugar substitute
  • 1 large apple, unpeeled, grated
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 1/3 cup walnuts, chopped, divided

Recipe

  • 1 stir together flour, cinnamon, baking powder, baking soda and salt; set aside. beat margarine until smooth. add eggs and vanilla and beat well. beat in splenda for about 1 minute. add flour mixture, apple and applesauce; beat until well blended, stir in walnuts.
  • 2 spread evenly in greased 8-inch square baking pan. sprinkle with remaining nuts. bake at 350f for about 40 minutes or until tester comes out clean, cool, cut into bars.
