Baked Ziti - Aimees Adventures

Total Time: 1 hr Preparation Time: 10 mins Cook Time: 50 mins

Ingredients

  • 8 ounces ziti pasta, uncooked
  • 1 1/2 cups cottage cheese, fat free
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 tablespoon dried parsley
  • 1/4 cup parmesan cheese, reduced fat
  • 1 (26 ounce) can hunts four cheese spaghetti sauce
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese, fat free, shredded

Recipe

  • 1 cook the zitti according to the package directions.
  • 2 preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
  • 3 stir 1/2 of the sauce into the cooked noodles.
  • 4 spoon 1/2 of the noodles into an 8x8 pan that has been sprayed with non-stick cooking spray.
  • 5 in a small bowl, combine the egg , cottage cheese, basil, parsley and 1 tablespoon of parmesan cheese.
  • 6 spoon the cheese mixture evenly over the noodles.
  • 7 top with remaining noodles and pour the rest of the sauce on top.
  • 8 sprinkle with remaining parmesan cheese.
  • 9 bake uncovered for 30-35 minutes or until bubbly.
  • 10 add mozzarella cheese and continue baking for an additional 5 minutes or until the cheese is melted.
  • 11 allow the dish to sit 5 minutes before serving.
