Country-fried Okra And Green Tomatoes

Ingredients

- 1 lb okra, sliced
- 1 large green tomato, unpeeled and chopped into bite size pieces
- salt and pepper
- 3/4 cup plain cornmeal
- 1/4 cup plain flour
- 1/2 cup oil
Recipe
- 1 combine okra and tomato in a bowl.
- 2 season with the salt and pepper.
- 3 mix the cornmeal and flour and toss the veggies in this mixture until coated.
- 4 heat oil in a large skillet over mediun-high heat.
- 5 add okra and tomatoes.
- 6 cook, stirring and turning occasionally, until crisp and browned- about 15-20 minutes.
- 7 remove okra and tomatoes to a serving platter which has been covered with a paper towel to drain.
- 8 serve and heat while hot.
