Baked Cherry Custards

Ingredients
- Servings: 4
- 225 g madeira cake, cut into 1 cm cubes
- 1/2 cup cherry jam
- 2 cups milk
- 3 eggs
- 1/2 cup sugar
Recipe
- 1 preheat oven to 180°c.
- 2 divide chopped cake between 4 x 1 cup ovenproof ramekins.
- 3 top each with a heaped tablespoon of jam.
- 4 place milk in pot over low heat and heat till warm, about 5 minutes.
- 5 whisk eggs and sugar in a jug and gradually whisk in heated milk.
- 6 pour milk into ramekins and place these in a baking dish.
- 7 pour boiling water into baking dish, halway up sides of ramekins.
- 8 bake for 30 minutes till golden and set.
- 9 remove dish from oven and remove desserts from baking dish very carefully.
- 10 cool 10 minutes and serve.
