Ancho Chili Brownies

Total Time: 50 mins Preparation Time: 20 mins Cook Time: 30 mins

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup cocoa
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons kahlua
  • 1/2 cup butter or 1/2 cup margarine, melted
  • 3/4 cup unsifted flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 2 teaspoons dried ancho chile powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup walnuts, chopped (or pecans)

Recipe

  • 1 preheat the oven to 350°f.
  • 2 lightly grease a 8 x 8 pan.
  • 3 using a spoon, stir eggs with 3/4-cup sugar and 1 teaspoon vanilla; add melted butter.
  • 4 sift ground chocolate with flour, baking powder, and salt.
  • 5 stir into egg mixture; add nuts.
  • 6 stir in chips. spread into greased pan.
  • 7 bake 20 to 30 minutes.
  • 8 for chewy brownies, use 8" pan and shorter baking time.
  • 9 for cake-like brownies, use 9" pan and longer baking time.
  • 10 cut into squares.
