Almond Toffee Triangles

Total Time: 45 mins Preparation Time: 5 mins Cook Time: 40 mins

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2/3 cup margarine, softened
  • 1/2 cup karo light corn syrup or 1/2 cup dark corn syrup
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/3 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup karo light corn syrup or 1/3 cup dark corn syrup
  • 1/4 cup margarine
  • 1/4 cup whipping cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 cup sliced almonds

Recipe

  • 1 heat oven to 350.
  • 2 grease jelly roll pan.
  • 3 mix brown sugar, margarine, syrup, egg and vanilla.
  • 4 stir in flour and salt.
  • 5 spread dough in pan.
  • 6 bake until light golden brown- 18-20 minutes.
  • 7 prepare topping by: cook and stir brown sugar and syrup over low heat until sugar is dissolved.
  • 8 stir in margarine and cream.
  • 9 heat to boiling, then remove from heat.
  • 10 stir in vanilla and almonds.
  • 11 pour over baked layer, spread evenly.
  • 12 bake until light brown and set- about 15-20 minutes.
  • 13 cool, then cut squares, then cut squares diagonally.
