Aunt Phil's Brown Sugar Cake

Ingredients

• 4 eggs
• 1 lb brown sugar
• 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
• 1 3/4 cups flour, sifted
• 1/2 cup dates, chopped
• 1/8 teaspoon salt

Recipe

• 1 preheat oven to 350 degrees fahrenheit.
• 2 combine the eggs and brown sugar in the top of a double boiler.
• 3 cook 20 minutes over low heat, stirring frequently with a wooden spoon, until thick.
• 4 stir in the vanilla, sifted flour, dates and salt.
• 5 pour into an ungreased 9-by-13-inch baking pan.
• 6 bake 20 minutes.
• 7 cool, cut into squares and serve.
• 8 yield 1 cake (6 to 8 servings).
