Ingredients

- 4 cups fresh blackberries
- 1 1/2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 6 tablespoons butter
- 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 pinch salt
- 1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 tablespoons turbinado sugar
Recipe
- 1 preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
- 2 in a small bowl, combine the first four ingredients and set aside.
- 3 place the butter in a 2 quart baking dish and place it in the oven to melt the butter.
- 4 in a medium bowl combine the flour, 3/4 cup granulated sugar, baking powder, salt and cinnamon.
- 5 in a small bowl combine the milk and vanilla.
- 6 add this mixture to the flour mixture.
- 7 mix until moist.
- 8 remove the baking dish from the oven.
- 9 spread the batter on top of the butter. the melted butter will peek up around the edges a bit.
- 10 layer the blackberry mix on top of the batter. press the blackberries down into the batter a bit.
- 11 bake for 45 minutes.
- 12 sprinkle with the coarse sugar and bake for 5-10 more minutes or until the batter has reached a beautiful golden brown.
