Black Walnut Cottage Pudding

Ingredients

  • Servings: 6
  • 1/4 cup margarine
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 egg, well beaten
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 cup chopped black walnut
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla flavoring

Recipe

  • 1 cream the butter with sugar.
  • 2 add the egg and beat thoroughly.
  • 3 sift the flour with baking powder and salt.
  • 4 add the dry ingredients alternately with the milk to the creamed butter mixture.
  • 5 add the walnuts and flavoring.
  • 6 mix thoroughly and pour into a shallow, well-oiled baking pan.
  • 7 bake in moderate oven (375°f) for 30 minutes.
