Anadama Batter Bread

Total Time: 45 mins Preparation Time: 10 mins Cook Time: 35 mins

Ingredients

  • 1 (1/4 ounce) package dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 3/4 cup boiling water
  • 1/2 cup yellow cornmeal
  • 3 tablespoons butter, softened
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 egg
  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour

Recipe

  • 1 in a small bowl, proof the yeast in the warm water.
  • 2 in large bowl, combine the boiling water, cornmeal, butter, molasses, and salt. add the egg and 1 1/2 cups of the flour. beat until well combined.
  • 3 add the rest of the flour and yeast, and beat again.
  • 4 spoon the dough into a 9-inch bread pan. let rise for about 1 hour.
  • 5 preheat the oven at 375°f and bake for 35 minutes.
