Anadama Batter Bread

Ingredients
- 1 (1/4 ounce) package dry yeast
- 1/4 cup water
- 3/4 cup boiling water
- 1/2 cup yellow cornmeal
- 3 tablespoons butter, softened
- 1/4 cup molasses
- 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
- 1 egg
- 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
Recipe
- 1 in a small bowl, proof the yeast in the warm water.
- 2 in large bowl, combine the boiling water, cornmeal, butter, molasses, and salt. add the egg and 1 1/2 cups of the flour. beat until well combined.
- 3 add the rest of the flour and yeast, and beat again.
- 4 spoon the dough into a 9-inch bread pan. let rise for about 1 hour.
- 5 preheat the oven at 375°f and bake for 35 minutes.
